The State Duma ratified the treaties on new territories

The State Duma approved the ratification of agreements on the inclusion of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), as well as the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into Russia. The decision was taken unanimously, says State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin. The meeting was attended by 411 deputies out of 450.

In “United Russia” clarifiedthat the ratification of the treaties gives the right to persons permanently residing in the territories of these four regions to obtain citizenship of the Russian Federation “with all the rights provided.” “The decision was taken unanimously. 30 September President Vladimir Putin signed agreements on the entry of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions into Russia. The decision was made following the results of referendums held in these regions. Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation acknowledged treaties consistent with the Constitution. In the Kremlin declaredthat the DPR and LPR will enter within the borders of 2014, and the borders of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions will be determined after Russia “consults with the population.”
