The State Duma proposes to cancel VAT for sea cruises

Deputies propose to establish zero VAT for cruises on the Black Sea. The draft amendments to the Tax Code were developed by Sergei Krivonosov, Deputy Chairman of the Duma Tourism Committee (United Russia party). The document (Vedomosti has it) is planned to be submitted to the parliament in the autumn session of the State Duma, which will begin on September 5.
The draft law proposes to apply a zero VAT rate to maritime cruise passenger traffic. To receive benefits, at least one port of call for a vessel must be located on the coast of the Black Sea, follows from the document. Amendments are proposed to be made to articles 164 and 165 of the second part of the Tax Code. The initiative is aimed at developing domestic maritime tourism and increasing the transport accessibility of Crimean cities, Krivonosov explained to Vedomosti.
