Deputy of the State Duma from the Crimea, Major General of the Reserve Leonid Ivlev took the initiative to increase the number of additional checkpoints on the Crimean bridge, RIA Novosti reports.
As noted, the proposal concerns the holiday season. Ivlev also proposed to increase the number of inspectors for this period in order to avoid a recurrence of the situation with traffic jams in the future. According to the deputy, he plans to send the corresponding document to the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.
“The problem with traffic jams at the entrance to the Crimean bridge has not yet been resolved. It is necessary to put additional inspection points during the peak holiday season, as well as increase the number of controllers,” Ivlev said, noting that the solution to the problem is urgent.
Earlier, the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar Territory reported the formation of a nine-kilometer traffic jam. By 17.00, it had decreased by 1.5 kilometers; at that moment, people spent up to 5 hours driving from the Kuban side. The Department of Private Security of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation announced the formation of queues due to an increase in the number of cars and luggage subject to inspection. To speed up the process, drivers were asked to place their belongings in bags convenient for unloading in advance.
Later it became known that traffic jams at the entrances to the Crimean bridge had significantly decreased. The Minister of Transport of the Republic of Crimea Nikolay Lukashenko informed about this in his Telegram channel. According to him, as of 11 p.m. Saturday, the length of the traffic jam from the Kuban side was about five kilometers, the waiting time was up to three hours. At the same time, the delay when traveling from Crimea did not exceed 20 minutes, and the traffic jam stretched for three hundred meters.
