The State Duma opposed the confiscation of property of the departed Russians

The Committee on State Construction of the State Duma cannot yet support the discussed confiscation of property of citizens who left Russia, said its head Pavel Krasheninnikov.

“This is being discussed – confiscation as a form of punishment. Of course we are against it. Legally, we cannot support this, if it is some kind of global story, then global amendments are needed, we will consider them,” leads his words to RIA Novosti.

According to Krasheninnikov, such amendments can already be prepared.

Earlier, at the end of January, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said at a plenary session that Russians who left the country behave differently: some “do not touch the country”, while others “wipe their feet” on it. In this regard, the approach should be differentiated, taking into account the fact that “what of them has been done by someone”. “Therefore, when they say, an excessive measure associated with confiscation, we are talking about scoundrels who violated the law, those who caused harm,” said he then.

Volodin specified that this measure of punishment is currently being studied, and work in this direction will soon begin. The speaker of the State Duma stressed that in the case of citizens who “behave correctly” after leaving Russia, punishment is not needed, this decision will remain “on their conscience.” At the same time, Volodin clarified that the departure “does not paint the citizen of the Russian Federation.”

Andrey Klishas, ​​head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building, considered possible implementation of this initiative. According to him, for this it is necessary to make appropriate amendments to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

At the same time, the possibility of increasing personal income tax from 13% to 30% for workers from abroad is being considered, even if formal tax residency is maintained.
