State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin began a discussion about the degree of workload and productivity of the work of the Duma committees. On February 27, at a meeting of the Council of the Duma, he expressed the idea that in case of unsatisfactory work of the committees, employees of the committees’ apparatuses could be deprived of quarterly bonuses. This was told to Vedomosti by three interlocutors in the Duma Council, an interlocutor in United Russia, and an employee of the State Duma apparatus.
“Moreover, this can be extended not only to the employees of the committees, but also to the chairmen of the committees,” says the employee of the apparatus. In addition to punishment with the ruble, there may also be a restriction on foreign business trips, since the deputies of such committees need to focus on work in the Duma, since they cannot cope with the legislative portfolio, the source adds. He noted that the council members supported Volodin’s proposal.
One of the interlocutors says that “unsatisfactory work” is expressed in how many draft laws lie “without movement” in the committee, that is, they are not considered for a long time. At the same time, another interlocutor doubts that Volodin’s initiative will be implemented. Another source adds that this was put forward as a proposal that the speaker did not push for.
