State Duma deputy from Crimea Mikhail Sheremet plans to initiate the issue of introducing the death penalty for those convicted of terrorism. The head of the United Russia faction, Vladimir Vasiliev, in response to this statement, said that the authorities will make a decision that will meet the expectations of society.

According to Mikhail Sheremet, after the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall, it is necessary to review the legislative framework. “I intend to initiate the issue at the legislative level of introducing the death penalty in our country for terrorism, drug trafficking and crimes against minors,” the deputy told RIA Novosti.

The head of the faction, Vladimir Vasiliev, said that the next plenary meeting of the State Duma will be devoted to the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall. “Nowadays a lot of questions are asked about the death penalty – this topic will certainly be deeply, professionally, and meaningfully studied. And a decision will be made that will meet the moods and expectations of our society,” the deputy said.

On the evening of March 22, a group of men armed with automatic weapons burst into the building of the Crocourse City Hall shopping center near Moscow, which houses the concert hall of the same name, and began shooting people. According to the latest data, 133 people were killed and more than 140 were injured. FSB officers detained 11 people involved in the terrorist attack, as well as four perpetrators.
