Deputy State Duma Belik: Erdogan’s words about Ukraine in NATO do not mean assistance in this
Considering Ukraine worthy of joining the North Atlantic Alliance and somehow promoting this are two different things. This statement was made by the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Dmitry Belik, commenting on the words of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The parliamentarian added that usually such words of support often remain words.
“Considering Ukraine worthy of joining NATO and somehow contributing to it are two different things, words of support often remain words,” the Russian deputy said.
Belik also noted that in the words of the Turkish President there is a desire to be a mediator between Ukraine and Russia, which, according to him, is a convenient position.
The day before, a meeting was held in Istanbul between the Presidents of Ukraine and Turkey, Vladimir Zelensky and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and after a press conference, at which the latter said that the Ukrainian state deserves to become a member of NATO.
