The State Duma asked the Ministry of Labor to change the amount of deposits that allow the right to benefits

The Ministry of Labor was asked to change the amount of bank deposits, which allows families in need to receive benefits. Such an appeal was sent by State Duma deputies from the Just Russia – For Truth party, Yana Lantratova and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Nina Ostanina, to the head of the department, Anton Kotyakov. This was reported TASS with reference to the text of the appeal.

“We ask you, dear Anton Olegovich, to consider the feasibility of changing the allowable amount of income received from bank deposits, which allows you to count on state support in the form of a monthly allowance, or to instruct you to develop other measures that give families in need the right to accumulate funds for a large purchase through bank deposits while maintaining their right to receive a monthly allowance,” the document says.

The deputies note that, according to the law, pregnant women and parents of children under 17 can receive a monthly allowance. However, one of the reasons for the refusal to issue it is the fact that the applicant and family members have income in the form of interest on deposits, which exceeds the subsistence level per capita.

The deputies note that the allowance “is often a critical measure of state support for needy families.” According to them, without it, such families can hardly provide themselves and their children with minimal decent living conditions. The deputies point out that the restriction on income from deposits “practically denies” the family the opportunity to set aside money for a major purchase and forces them to save “under the pillow.”

In this regard, the deputies proposed to establish a “more fair amount of income” from interest on bank deposits, on which the needy can claim benefits. In their opinion, the level of income can be set in the amount of three living wages.
