The State Department did not believe in the use of American weapons in the attack on the Belgorod region

U.S. officials question the credibility of reports that Ukrainian saboteurs used weapons supplied by the United States to Ukraine during the attack in the Belgorod region. This statement was made on Tuesday, May 23, by the head of the press service of the US State Department, Matthew Miller.

According to the official, the American Foreign Ministry saw reports on the Internet that the sabotage and reconnaissance group (DRG) that attacked the Belgorod region used weapons from the United States. However, “we are currently skeptical about the veracity of these reports,” Miller said.

The Pentagon, in turn, said that they were studying the facts in connection with reports of the use of American equipment near Belgorod. The defense department emphasized that the United States did not approve the transfer of equipment delivered to Ukraine to a third party, and Kyiv did not request such permissions.

Earlier, commenting on the events in the Belgorod region, Matthew Miller argued that “it is up to Ukraine to decide how it wants to conduct its military operations,” since “it is important to take a step back and remind the world that, of course, this military conflict was started by Russia“.
