The United States plans to provide Ukraine with $9.9 billion in additional budgetary support in the coming months. This was stated by the head of the Department of International Assistance at the State Department, Daphne Rand.
“In the coming months, we plan to provide 9.9 billion dollars and are ready to assist the government of Ukraine in maintaining its viability and providing additional budgetary support if necessary,” – said Rand (quoted by RIA Novosti).
According to her, the budget assistance to Ukraine provided by the United States earlier amounted to $13 billion.
In November, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen statedthat the country allocated $4.5 billion in direct budgetary support to Ukraine. She also called on other countries to accelerate and increase support for Ukraine.
Earlier this month, US President Joe Biden declaredthat the United States will support Ukraine against the backdrop of a Russian special operation for as long as it takes.
On February 3, it became known about the next package of military assistance, which Washington will allocate to Kyiv. into it will enter, in particular, GLSDB missiles capable of flying about 150 km. The package consists of two parts: $425 million in assistance will be allocated from the Pentagon’s stockpiles, another $1.75 billion will go to purchase weapons from suppliers.
Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. After that, Western countries began to provide military assistance to Ukraine and imposed large-scale sanctions against the Russian Federation. In particular, since the beginning of hostilities, the United States has already provided Ukraine with weapons worth about $27.2 billion. The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of weapons to Kyiv. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, warned that “pumping up” Ukraine with weapons brings NATO closer to the dangerous line of a direct military clash with Russia.
