The Slovak Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian Ambassador to the Republic Igor Bratchikov because of statements made by the Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) of Russia Sergei Naryshkin. About it reports Slovak department.

“The reason was statements by the director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, Sergei Naryshkin, which he published during the pre-election moratorium on the eve of early parliamentary elections in Slovakia,” the statement says.

The Slovak Foreign Ministry called Naryshkin’s statement “calling into question the integrity of free and democratic elections” in the country. They considered what happened to be “unacceptable interference of the Russian Federation” in the electoral process in the republic.

The Russian Embassy, ​​in a conversation with TASS, confirmed the diplomat’s call to the Slovak Foreign Ministry.

The SVR claimed that the US State Department allegedly sent instructions “to carry out targeted work with local political and business circles to ensure the voting results required by the Americans.” According to the department, in order to achieve the goal, it is allowed to use “any means – pressure, blackmail, intimidation, bribery.”

In the parliamentary elections in Slovakia on September 30 won the Direction – Social Democracy party of Robert Fico with 23.31% of the votes. The turnout was 68.4%. Western media previously called the politician pro-Russian, pointing to his position on Ukraine. On October 1, Fico called the situation in Ukraine “a huge tragedy for everyone.” “If the N-SD party is tasked with forming a government, we will do everything possible to ensure that peace negotiations take place as quickly as possible,” he said.
