The “shining world” of bloggers and IT people can die of hunger and choke in the slop

One of the media companies, studying the preferences of teenagers, found that a quarter of the teenagers surveyed plan to work from home in the future. A third of young people aged 12 to 17 are sure that they will be company leaders, 15% are going to become officials, 8% are ready to do science, 2% agree to become salespeople. 6% do not want to work at all, they answered that they were going to live by owning a business.

Do you like the world of this childhood dream – all homeworkers, leaders and civil servants? Another research portal gave its figures: 35% of schoolchildren dream of getting into the media business, blogging and film production. Medicine and biotechnology are of interest to 28% of respondents. 20% of teenagers are going to connect their career with information technologies. Another 8% want to go into the fashion and beauty industry, and 4% want to become lawyers.

At first glance, the future world of IT people, bloggers and doctors is not frightening, but only at first glance… In fact, the realization of children’s dreams will lead to a world of hunger and devastation. From childhood, a modern person sees elements of comfort around him, uses them and even perceives them as a natural phenomenon, as an integral part of the universe. Water flows from the tap, the light is turned on with a button, it is always cold in the refrigerator, and in winter the batteries are hot – it’s like a change of day and night, it’s natural. Even adults don’t think about how water gets into the house, and electricity into the outlet, just like they don’t remember the path of products from the ground to the supermarket counter or even to the plate served in the cafe.

But in order for water to flow from the tap, tens of thousands of people work, but their work is invisible to the public. Sometimes the average city dweller happens to see a plumber, a plumber, or even an excavator and welder. However, you will not see the work of the operator of the pumping station on the street. You will not see the work of electricians, machine operators, assemblers, embodying, materializing their work in the very pump that supplies water. You will not meet an iron foundry, a copper smelter, and even more so a miner in the city. But without them there will be no pump and, therefore, no water in the apartment.

How many people know that Wi-Fi in an apartment is related to … a lumberjack? The Internet is not a picture on the screen of a laptop or smartphone, it is a network, a physical network of fiber optic cables that entangle the whole country. And in order for you to see the desired picture on the screen, in the taiga, lumberjacks must clear a strip along which an excavator will dig a five-meter trench, and a cable will lie in it.

Not only elementary, habitual comfort, but also the very existence, the very life of a person is provided by work that is not noticeable. Children do not know that the hamburger was prepared not by a fast food cook, but by livestock breeders, tractor drivers, combine operators and thousands of other people who create combines, produce agricultural chemicals that provide energy for all production.

But if children do not know about the true structure of the world, about the origin of the comforts they are accustomed to and the professions behind it all, how can they dream of becoming a spinner, a sikkativovar, a tumbler, a reed tarr, a baker, a ship’s cutter, or a helmet coagulation operator? Children want to be bloggers – period!

Only now the brilliant world of bloggers and IT people is doomed – these talented guys will have nothing to eat. Yes, and a quarter of young people who dream of working at home will remain in their homes without heat, electricity, water and food.

Already, there is a sharp gap between the plans of young people and the demands of the real economy. At the recent St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said that in order to achieve technological sovereignty, Russia will need at least a million additional highly skilled workers and engineers in the next five years.

The May business survey showed the largest shortage of workers in industry since 1996. The largest shortage of personnel, as the authors of the report prepared by the Bank of Russia point out, was recorded in light industry enterprises (-70%), in mechanical engineering (-35%) and in food production (-25%).

According to the largest employment portal, 37% of all vacancies are jobs for workers. Since the beginning of the year, the number of vacancies for blue-collar workers has increased by almost 20%, reaching 226.5 thousand. Industry needs workers. But that’s not what teenagers dream of…

In agriculture, the shortage of personnel has already become a permanent phenomenon. It is clear that this was largely determined by the disproportion of wages. But at the height of the sowing campaign in the Omsk region, machine operators were offered up to three hundred thousand a month, with a decrease to one hundred thousand in the offseason. However, there was no queue of those wishing to join.

Every third vacancy on the Jobs in Russia portal, which is about 660,000 jobs, is in industry, manufacturing and agriculture. A whole medium-sized city stands empty and waits for “tenants”. But they are not. And this means that the country will produce less food and manufactured goods. This means that we will begin to live worse.

Obvious, superficial decisions are already being made — employers are raising salaries, regions are providing preferences to workers in the most sought-after specialties, infrastructure is being developed in remote and small towns to improve the overall quality of life. But all these steps are not able to solve the problem of shortage of personnel. As long as young people do not feel, do not realize the materiality of the world and the importance of real work, the situation will not change dramatically.

They say that in North Korea, representatives of the townspeople, representatives of the intelligentsia are regularly taken to work in the village so that they do not break away from reality, so that they do not forget that bread does not grow on a store shelf. In the Soviet Union, labor landings of students and intelligentsia were practiced in sponsored collective farms and enterprises, this also had a psychological and even ideological meaning. In today’s Russia, no matter how much the president talks about early career guidance, all actions come down to testing. But, unfortunately, the tests are prepared and carried out by people who are just as disconnected from the real sector as the children themselves.

The fundamental problem lies in the field of perception of the world, which is cut off from the material world, which does not notice materialized labor in everything around. And this problem will not be solved quickly.

But the bill on labor education in schools is the first step in the right direction. Then, nevertheless, I very much hope that the career guidance system will begin to develop, the doors of factories will open for school excursions. And, perhaps, in a few years, surveys of schoolchildren will not give such sad results due to their isolation from life, young people will return from the fantasy world to the material world.

In Russia, about 20% of housing, according to Rosstat for 2022, is not equipped with a centralized sewage system. This means that the country should have a huge number of sewers and drivers of sludge pumps who pump out cesspools. If they don’t exist, a fifth of Russians, excuse me, will drown in sewage. But what percentage of the surveyed schoolchildren expressed a desire to work as a sewer? Null. And this work needs to be done.

It so happened that in the 90s our consciousness was turned upside down. If earlier virtuoso turners were called the elite, now the very 6% who are going to live as idlers at the expense of the business created by their parents are recorded in the “elite”. The respect for working professions, nurtured in the proletarian state, turned into contempt for dirty work. Now everyone is looking for easy money. And the social structure encourages this. The child sees that individual bloggers earn fantastic money – if only the tax debt is under a billion, then what can we say about income. Yes, these are units. But if you go to bloggers, the chance of becoming a billionaire is not zero. But if you become a worker, you are not guaranteed to become a millionaire.

Alas, in a market economy success is measured by money, this cannot be changed. However, respect is determined not only by the ability to buy unnecessary super-expensive accessories – a watch for a thousand shows the time no worse than a watch for a million. What is also important is the view of society on the problem.

Remember the once popular poem by Vladimir Mayakovsky “Who to be?”. It “deliciously”, lovingly describes several professions. And how popular were films of the genre “production drama” in the cinema! Do you remember the high-altitude fitters? Even melodramas did not bypass the production – the same “Moscow does not believe in tears.” Even comedies did not avoid the theme of labor, in the film “Operation” Y “and other adventures of Shurik” a construction site is shown, where the antisocial Fedya was introduced to work.

And now remember a modern film that would show how any elements of our material civilization are created. No, in works of art, everything is now in advance, like electricity in a socket and water in a tap. But if the masters of artistic creativity begin to pay attention to working people, working professions, this will be able to change the attitude of the public towards workers. After all, if the work of the same sewer is necessary, then he should be respected.
