In the fourth quarter of 2022, the percentage of refusals on mortgage applications in the Russian Federation reached 46.2%, which is a record high in the entire history of observations since 2017, according to data from the National Bureau of Credit Histories (NBKI), provided by RBC Real Estate.

According to the NBKI, the share of mortgage refusals in Russia has been increasing for the last three years. By the end of 2020, this figure was 31.5%, and by the end of 2021 – 36.6%.

An increase in the share of refusals on mortgage applications was also reported to the publication by the BCI “Scoring Bureau”. According to them, this figure in the fourth quarter of 2022 reached 35%, which is also a record for the entire history of observations.

A survey of banks conducted by Kommersant at the beginning of the year revealed a steady interest of citizens in preferential mortgage programs, despite a series of New Year holidays. At the same time, the ambiguous market situation and the lack of trends in improving the welfare of the population will hinder the growth of mortgage loans, experts say.
