According to RIA Novosti, the pro-Western bloc “Serbia Against Violence” put forward a demand for the annulment of the results of the December 17 elections at all levels and warned of possible road blockades in Belgrade.
The opposition association “Serbia Against Violence” did not recognize the results of the municipal elections to the Belgrade City Assembly and began protesting at the building of the Republican Electoral Commission (REC) on December 18. The leaders of the movement, Marinika Tepic and Miroslav Aleksic, presented to the REC “evidence” of voting violations by Serbs from Bosnia and Herzegovina with dual citizenship and without capital registration. They demanded the cancellation of the election results and went on a hunger strike, which Aleksic then interrupted for “religious reasons.”
“Lawyers in the electoral authorities, in particular in the REC, will demand the cancellation of elections at all levels throughout the Republic of Serbia,” Aleksic said.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, in the context of the protests, assured of protecting the will of the people expressed in the elections on December 17, and noted that attempts at external intervention to create a “banana state” in Serbia will remain unsuccessful.
