The sequel must be no worse than the first

Andrey Zolotarev, screenwriter of the series “The Boy’s Word. Blood on the asphalt,” shared information that there are no plans to film a second season. The filmmakers need time so that they can make a sequel that will not be inferior in quality to the first part.

“There won’t be a second season yet,” Andrei Zolotarev said at a master class as part of the International Festival of Cinematic Debuts “Spirit of Fire.” The main reason: the desire not to lower the bar, since the first season exceeded all expectations: “We want to do at least as good. And this is difficult, because we really have a great series.”

Zolotarev noted that initially the story, which many have become familiar with, was designed for three seasons. And although the filmmakers have long known what will happen to the characters next, they still do not start the filming process, because they do not yet have “creative confidence.”

Given the unprecedented popularity, the concerns are quite clear. Thus, a survey by VTsIOM showed: despite the fact that every sixth citizen of the Russian Federation began watching, eight out of ten Russians still heard about the series (it turns out that even those who had not seen it spoke, which also indicates demand). Also noteworthy: despite the fact that the plot reflects the events of the late eighties, the highest interest was shown by audiences under the age of 25. But, probably, they are still not so much interested in the tragic history of the state as in the fate of heroes who are close in age.
