The SBU has charged the Ukrainian businessman, owner of the largest alcoholic beverage company and the Khortitsa brand, Evgeniy Chernyak (listed in Russia as terrorists and extremists for financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine, arrested in absentia and put on the wanted list) of financing “Russian aggression.”
The Ukrainian intelligence service said in a statement that enterprises owned by Chernyak, located in the countries of Central Asia and the South Caucasus, massively purchased alcohol and other raw materials from Russia. At the same time, the Ukrainian businessman’s companies continued to pay taxes in Russia and paid about 6 billion hryvnia and more than $157 million to the Russian budget in 2022.
In addition to Chernyak, the SBU also brought charges against six top managers of his companies.
