Saudi Arabia has officially invited a delegation from Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) to visit the kingdom to negotiate a ceasefire in Yemen.
At these negotiations it is planned to find a solution that will be acceptable to all parties to the conflict.
This is the first official invitation to Houthi representatives to Saudi Arabia since the Arab coalition began operations in Yemen.
A source inside the Ansar Allah movement emphasized that first of all the parties will discuss the issue of a ceasefire, which could be an important step towards establishing the long-awaited peace in the region.
The civil war in Yemen (since 2014) is between the Houthis (Shiite rebels) on the one hand and government forces on the other. At the request of the Yemeni president and government, on February 26, 2015, a military operation by Arab coalition forces led by Saudi Arabia was launched in Yemen.
