The Russian service sector PMI index increased by 0.3 points in March – Kommersant

The Russian service sector PMI index, which is calculated monthly by the rating agency S&P Global, amounted to 51.4 points in March. Compared to February’s 51.1 points, the index increased 0.3 points. How notes The S&P Global index indicates a muted rise in activity in this sector.

The aggregate PMI index of production volumes (activity of manufacturing and services sectors) amounted to 52.7 points in March compared with 52.2 points in February. An index value above 50 points indicates an increase in business activity.

In March, the growth rate of new orders increased: demand increased amid the introduction of new service lines and customer attraction. However, the number of new export orders in the first quarter decreased for the first time in 11 months: the rate of their decline was the most significant since February 2023.

Costs continued to rise in March due to higher transportation costs, as well as higher fuel prices and higher wage costs. At the same time, the rate of cost inflation was the slowest since July 2020. The rate of inflation of selling prices became the lowest in the year. Employment rose for the eighth month in a row, despite a slight decline from February.
