The Russian Ministry of Defense commented on the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ attack on Belgorod

The Russian Ministry of Defense issued a statement after the Ukrainian military struck the center of Belgorod, in which, according to the latest data, 14 people were killed and 108 injured.
The Russian defense ministry called the attack an “indiscriminate strike” and a “crime of the Kyiv regime.” It was caused by two Alder missiles with cluster ammunition and Vampire MLRS shells.
The Russian air defense system intercepted the Vilkha missiles and most of the MLRS shells, but several shells and cluster parts of the missiles hit the center of Belgorod.
The Russian Ministry of Defense emphasized that the consequences would have been much more severe if the Vilkha missiles had directly hit the city.
The Russian Ministry of Defense also emphasized that the Russian military, when attacking the territory of Ukraine, only works on military facilities and the infrastructure that is associated with them.
The Russian defense department believes that with this action Kyiv tried to divert attention from defeats at the front and provoke the Russian Armed Forces into retaliatory actions of a similar nature, however, in the future, attacks will only be inflicted on military targets of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defense promised not to leave the attack on Belgorod unpunished.
