The Russian Investigative Committee brought charges in absentia against the former Prosecutor General and Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine

The investigation in absentia brought charges against former Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andrey Parubiy and ex-Prosecutor General of Ukraine Oleg Makhnitsky for the deaths and injuries of 1,200 people in Donbass in 2014. “They were members of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and no later than April 14, 2014, voted for the so-called anti-terrorist operation in the southeast of the country. The militants under their control carried out numerous attacks on the DPR and LPR in 2014, killing or wounding over 1,200 people, and damaging more than 140 infrastructure facilities,” the report said.

In addition to Makhnitsky and Parubiy, charges were also brought against the chairman of the State Border Service of Ukraine, Mykola Lytvyn. The Investigative Committee clarified that measures are currently being taken to search for and arrest the accused.

As of 11:20 Moscow time, only Makhnitsky was put on the international wanted list, as follows from the information in the search database of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. The basis is an article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Which one exactly is not specified. There is no information about Parubiya and Levitin in the Ministry of Internal Affairs search database yet.

Makhnitsky was in absentia arrested back in 2017. According to the investigation, in 2014, Makhnitsky, his first deputy Nikolai Golomsha and other prosecutors organized the deliberately illegal prosecution of Russian citizen Admiral Alexander Vitko for political reasons.
