The Russian government has increased the volume of quotas for the export of mineral fertilizers by 300,000 tons, according to a decree by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. The total volume of the export quota will exceed 12.6 million tons.
“The decision will be valid until May 31, 2023 and provides for an increase in the quota for the export of ammonium nitrate,” the press service of the government reports.
It is noted that the decision taken by officials will allow producers of mineral fertilizers to export unclaimed residues of finished products for export, provided that the needs of the domestic market are fully met. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia will distribute export quotas among market participants.
Earlier, President of the Russian Association of Fertilizer Producers (RAPU) Andrey Guryev reported that the export of fertilizers from Russia in 2022 decreased by 15%, despite the absence of direct sanctions on the sale of these products. At the same time, according to the data Financial Timesrevenues of Russian fertilizer exporters in 2022 rose by 70% due to rising prices and despite a 10% drop in sales and analysts’ forecasts for a decrease in February supplies.
