Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order concluding, through an exchange of notes, an agreement on the opening of a Russian consulate general in Kapan, Armenia. Document published on the legal information portal.

“The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Armenia expresses its respect to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and, seeking to promote the development of economic, cultural and other ties between the two countries, as well as expand contacts between citizens of Russia and Armenia, on behalf of the government of the Russian Federation has the honor to request the consent of the Armenian side to establish Consulate General of the Russian Federation in the city of Kapan,” says the text of the draft note from the Russian side.

The Russian Consulate General in Kapan will become the second on the territory of Armenia. The first is located in Gyumri.

Director of the Consular Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexey Klimov announced opening of the Consulate General in Kapan in October. He also mentioned that Russia has entered into agreements with the Maldives and Indonesia on the establishment of consulates general in Male and Denpasar, and an agreement is being prepared with Kazakhstan on the consulate general of the Russian Federation in Aktau.
