The death of Alexei Navalny may intensify the non-systemic opposition abroad. This statement was made on Monday, February 19, by the special representative of the head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for cooperation in the field of ensuring the right to freedom of religion, Ambassador at Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Gennady Askaldovich.
Also, a representative of the Foreign Ministry said that this could affect voter turnout in the Russian presidential elections.
“I have no doubt that the non-systemic opposition abroad is becoming more active. This may affect the number of those who come to vote,” Askaldovich said, adding that he does not know “in a positive way or a negative way.”
Earlier, a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that Russian citizens who have moved abroad with an anti-Russian position are preparing to carry out provocations. According to him, they could happen on the eve of and during the presidential elections in March 2024.
