Part of the former Afghan special forces joined the armed formations in Ukraine. About it declared in an interview with RIA Novosti, Zamir Kabulov, Special Representative of the President of Russia for Afghanistan, Director of the Second Department of Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Some of these former special forces are like mercenaries, apparently they were promised money for money, because you have to live on something, they join the Ukrainian Nazis,” Kabulov said.

He added that some of them also join the ISIS group (recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia). Kabulov drew attention to the fact that the actions of the military “do not depend in any way” on the Taliban (“Taliban” is a terrorist organization banned in Russia).

According to the diplomat, this issue was recently raised by the representative of Kyrgyzstan at a conference in Tashkent. At the time, he reported that about 110,000 Afghans were “dangling between their homeland and waiting for permission to enter the United States.” Kabulov believes that they are probably not going to let them into the country.

The diplomat also pointed to the risks of about 100 planes and helicopters, on which the Afghan military fled to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan last year, get into Ukraine. According to him, it is important for Russia that this does not happen.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. Ukraine, in turn, introduced martial law and announced mobilization.

Also, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the creation of an “international legion” where foreign volunteers could enlist. The Russian authorities refer to such servicemen as mercenaries. According to the July data of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, since February 24, 7,100 mercenaries have arrived in Ukraine. Of these, more than 4,300 were destroyed or left the combat zone, and more than 2,700 continue to participate in the conflict.
