The Russian Foreign Ministry rejected accusations of violating UN sanctions against North Korea

Moscow does not violate the sanctions of the UN Security Council against the DPRK, Ambassador at Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Oleg Burmistrov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to him, the Russian Federation is a responsible member of the world community and strictly complies with its international obligations regarding sanctions against the DPRK.
At the same time, he noted that Russia is categorically against the introduction of new sanctions, saying that the current restrictions were introduced in other geopolitical conditions. According to him, their goal was “not to punish North Korea,” but to stimulate it, including through the gradual lifting of sanctions, which is especially important given the difficult humanitarian situation in the DPRK. At the same time, Burmistrov accused the West of unwillingness to “move along the political track.”
Earlier, the Coordinator for Strategic Communications of the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, accused the DPRK of supplying weapons to Russia for use during a special military operation in Ukraine.
