Russia is not ready to engage in an arms control dialogue in the manner that the United States proposes. This was announced on Friday, July 21, to journalists by Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.
The diplomat stressed that “on the basis that the Americans are now proposing, we are not ready to conduct this dialogue and will not, because they ignore several key points in this whole configuration.”
To resume dialogue, it is necessary to make sure that “the US course, which is fundamentally hostile towards Russia, is changing for the better for us,” however, so far “the anti-Russian component is not just dominating, it is aggravated in the American line,” the deputy minister said.
Earlier, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said that Washington is violating all agreements in the field of arms control. According to him, the Joe Biden administration withdrew from the agreements on missile defense, INF, open skies and in general nullified strategic dialogue two major nuclear powers. Now the United States, with its hostile actions towards our country, is finishing off START.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that Russia and the United States are in the hot phase of the war, but relations with Washington must be maintained. Moscow does not lose hope that the US will wake up the mind and dialogue between countries will resume.
