The Russian Foreign Ministry has changed the procedure for the movement of employees of the British diplomatic mission

Employees of the British diplomatic mission will be required to notify about their movement on the territory of Russia, reported at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim in Russia Tom Dodd was summoned to the Russian Ministry, where he was told “about the inadmissibility of supporting the terrorist actions of the Kyiv regime.”

“The British side was also informed of the decision as a response to the hostile actions of London <...> introduce a notification procedure for the movement of employees of British diplomatic missions on the territory of our country,” the message says.

It clarifies that employees will be required to provide at least five business days notice of travel outside the 120-kilometer free movement zone. The document must contain data on the purpose, timing, type of trip, etc.

At the same time, the British Ambassador in Moscow, the Ambassador’s Advisor, the Head of the Consular Section and the British Consul General in Yekaterinburg are not required to provide such information.

On July 17, the UK expanded the list of individuals and companies subject to sanctions by 14 positions. 13 people fell under the restrictions, including Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Moscow Region Ksenia Mishonova, adviser to the head of the DPR on children’s rights Eleonora Fedorenko, and others. The Artek children’s camp was also subject to sanctions. Support for the “forced deportation of Ukrainian children” to Russia was cited as the reason for this decision.

Later, the Russian embassy in London called the British sanctions unacceptable and “legally void.” The embassy stressed that it is particularly indignant that London uses the child protection argument as a pretext for sanctions. The statement recalled that restrictions against the Russians were introduced a few hours after the attack on the Crimean bridge, as a result of which a 14-year-old girl was left an orphan.
