Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the US is required to issue visas to Russian journalists to cover Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s participation in the UN Security Council (SC).

They go to the UN, and Russia chairs there and a delegation is being formed, they are part of this delegation,” said representative on the air of Sputnik radio.

17 April Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Vasily Nebenzya informedthat Lavrov received and the members of the delegation accompanying him received American visas to participate in the UN Security Council. At the same time, members of the press, who were supposed to go to the United States together with the delegation, did not receive entry permits.

Russia will take part in the organization’s Security Council meetings on April 24 and 25.

Earlier during a press conference, Lavrov promised journalists to defend the right to obtain visas to the United States to cover the meeting of the UN Security Council. “I don’t know how this confrontation will end, but we will share the results of our efforts later,” the minister said.
