The Russian Foreign Ministry called for agreeing on a strategy for resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict

The international community needs to quickly begin agreeing on a strategy for collective action for a political settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said at the peace summit in Cairo.
“The current crisis has once again proven: without a fair settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in accordance with the resolutions of the Security Council and the UN General Assembly on the basis of the “two-state” formula approved by international decisions, regional stabilization will remain an unattainable goal,” the Russian diplomat said, in his words leads press service of the foreign policy department.
He also recalled Russia’s position, which is to establish a negotiation process on the UN platform, through which it would be possible to create a Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem, and so that it could peacefully coexist with Israel.
According to Bogdanov, the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians cannot be frozen; both sides must completely abandon hostile steps, including “the settlement takeover of Palestinian territories, as well as undermining the status of Jerusalem shrines.” Regional states should play an important role in resolving the conflict, he added.
On October 7, the Palestinian group Hamas attacked Israel. Against the backdrop of an attack by militants, the army of the Jewish state launched Operation Iron Swords, the country went into a state of war and began launching massive airstrikes on the Gaza Strip. According to the latest data, over 5,500 people have died as a result of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, most of them Palestinians. Israel is implementing a “complete and comprehensive” blockade of the Gaza Strip, and “nothing comes from Israeli territory” to the Palestinian enclave, including water, electricity and medicine, an Israeli army spokesman said. The situation has already brought the Gaza Strip to the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe, as the UN warned about.
