The Russian Federation budget for 2024–2026 is not military, priority is given to social issues – Kommersant

Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov does not agree with the opinion that the Russian budget for 2024–2026 gives priority to military spending. According to him, the main task of the budget remains solving social issues.

“Many people say: do we now have a military budget? No, colleagues. Yes, expenditures have been increased in the military direction, but priority in budget expenditures is given to social issues,” Mr. Siluanov said at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes (quote from “RIA News”).

According to the Minister of Finance, in the budget expenditures on the social sector account for 30.5% of total expenditures.

Now the draft budget must pass the first reading in the State Duma. From the materials for the submitted budget it follows that expenditures under the “National Defense” section in 2024 will immediately increase by 68% relative to the plan for 2023 (actual data on the current execution of the expenditure part, we recall, are closed) – from 6.4 trillion to 10.8 trillion rubles Their share in all budget expenditures will increase from 21.2% to 29.4%.

September 28 Mr. Siluanov statedthat the main priority of the Russian budget for 2024 is to ensure victory.
