Participants in the VI session of the Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum (RACF) at the level of foreign ministers, which took place on Wednesday, December 20, in Marrakesh, advocated resolving controversial issues and crises through peaceful means and through comprehensive dialogue.
Russia is represented at the event by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
In particular, the politicians condemned the “continuing escalation of Israel’s aggressive war against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip,” emphasizing that they “reject any justification for such a war, including self-defense.”
As for the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, it must be resolved in accordance with international law and the UN Charter, says the final statement of the RAAF. Its participants expressed the hope that actions in this direction will lead to a just, comprehensive and sustainable peace.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Russia believes that as a fundamental basis for an Israeli-Palestinian settlement UN decisions regarding the creation of a Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem must be implemented.
With Ukraine, Russia was ready to return to the negotiating table, but without any preconditions. Kyiv first demands the return of Crimea and Donbass to it, as well as the complete withdrawal of the military from the territories that the Ukrainian authorities consider theirs. President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that a common position of Kyiv and other countries on the “peace formula” is being worked out, and when it is formulated, it will be handed over to Russia.
