The Russian side learned with bewilderment about the “hand of Moscow” in another “spy scandal” in the Republic of Moldova. Such a statement on Monday, July 10, was made by the Russian Embassy in Chisinau.
The diplomatic mission’s Telegram channel emphasizes that Russia’s accusations of “destabilizing and influencing internal political processes” have already become a kind of “calling card” within the coordinated anti-Russian line of the “collective West”, although Moscow, unlike the West, respects the sovereignty of other states and does not interfere in their internal affairs.
Earlier, the director of the Information and Security Service (ISS) of Moldova, Alexander Mustiata, said during a briefing that law enforcement officers managed to uncover an agent network allegedly associated with the Russian Federationthat operated throughout the country. According to him, since 2020, citizens of the Russian Federation Yuri G. and Vadim I. have been recruiting Moldovans, organizing campaigns to influence Moldovan politics and keep it in Moscow’s sphere of influence.
At the same time, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, said that Russia calls on Moldova to stop acting in the interests of the West and listen to its own citizens. As the official noted, the destructive and hypocritical line that ignores the interests of citizens, as well as the imposed mantras about the “Russian threat and propaganda” cause more and more rejection among the inhabitants of Moldova.
