The Russian Embassy criticized the United States for comparing the Northern Military District with the “Holodomor”

The American authorities are spreading a false interpretation of the so-called “Holodomor,” and their attempts to compare it with the Northern Military District are absurd, the Russian Embassy in the United States said. RIA Novosti reports this.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden called the famine in Ukraine of 1932-1933 the result of “the inhumane policies of Joseph Stalin and the Soviet regime.”
The embassy noted that the US authorities are returning to this topic once again, trying to distort history. As diplomats noted, those events were associated with crop failure and food shortages, and the disaster was relevant for the entire USSR. “The devastating consequences of this phenomenon are a common tragedy for Russians, Ukrainians, Kazakhs and many other ethnic groups of a huge country,” the embassy said in a statement.
In connection with Biden’s attempts to compare the “Holodomor” and Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, the embassy said that the US authorities continue to try to demonize Russia and attribute to it “absolutely alien intentions to allegedly suppress and even destroy the fraternal people of a neighboring state.” The statement says that the American authorities are lying, accusing Russia of intending to “destroy Ukraine’s agriculture and undermine global food security.” The mission also noted that corporations from the United States and Europe continue to cheaply buy and export Ukrainian grain, earning “fabulous profits,” while those countries that really need food receive less than three percent. In turn, the American authorities are interfering with Russian food exports.
The real purpose of American statements regarding the “Holodomor” is to “extort more billions from taxpayers, which will then be spent on the construction of defense factories, only unwinding the spiral of the conflict,” the embassy said.
