By decision of the higher command, the reconnaissance and assault brigade “Siberia” was created. This was told to the portal “Russian Cossacks» Nikolai Dyakonov, deputy commander of the Volunteer Assault Corps.
According to him, almost all Cossack detachments have the names of the rivers where their troops are located. For example, in the Don brigade there are detachments named after the tributaries of this river – Buzuluk, Khoper, Yelan. All detachments in the “Siberia” brigade will also have the names of rivers.
Now the brigade includes the detachments “Siberia” and “Yenisei”, soon the divisions “Irtysh” and “Angara” will be formed. The brigade will be replenished with Cossacks from the Siberian, Yenisei, Irkutsk Cossack troops.
Dyakonov noted that at the moment the brigade is deployed in the Luhansk People’s Republic. Some parts of the unit are on the line of contact in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
The new Cossack unit does not experience a shortage of personnel or supplies, Dyakonov said. The reason lies in the famous feat of the detachment of the same name and the personality of its commander, as well as in the cohesion of the Cossack community.
Dyakonov called the commander of the Siberia detachment Oleg Likontsev a worthy person, a real Siberian and a descendant of Yermak. He will take the post of deputy commander of the brigade “Siberia”.
