The Russian Armed Forces returned control of the islands at the mouth of the Dnieper and at the exit to the Dnieper Bay, writes RIA Novosti with reference to the commanders of the units of the coastal defense brigade of the Dnepr group of troops.

“Our islands are controlled absolutely all, if we take it from the point of view of visual control, and more than 90% of the islands that exist are controlled by our people who are there,” said one of the commanders. Control was lost after the flood that occurred due to the breakthrough of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric station.

Another agency interlocutor added that the Russian military is monitoring around the clock. There is less equipment in the area, so audibility is good – at night the boat can be heard from afar. According to him, after the enemy detects himself, data about his movement is transmitted to the observation post and then, using night vision devices, strikes are carried out with artillery or drones.

The Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station dam broke on the night of June 6. As a result of the incident, 11 of the 28 spans of the station were destroyed, after which an uncontrolled discharge of water began. The water level reached 11 m. In total, several tens of thousands of people found themselves in the disaster zone, about 1,300 were evacuated. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the incident a barbaric action by the Ukrainian authorities, which led to a large-scale environmental and humanitarian disaster.
