Germany crossed the “red line” when it began deliveries of lethal weapons of its own production to Ukraine, about this informed Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergei Nechaev to the Izvestia newspaper.

“The very fact of supplying the Ukrainian regime with German-made lethal weapons, used not only against Russian military personnel, but also against the civilian population of Donbass, is a “red line” that the German authorities should not have crossed, including taking into account the moral and historical responsibility of Germany before our people for the crimes of Nazism during the Great Patriotic War. Nevertheless, the Rubicon has been crossed,” the statement said.

Nechaev also drew attention to the fact that such actions do not lead to a de-escalation of the conflict, on the contrary, they drag it out and lead to an increase in the number of victims. He stressed that many people in Germany understand this scenario.

Due to anti-Russian rhetoric and sanctions pressure, many of the agreements reached at the end of World War II between Russia and Germany are now “being eroded,” Nechaev said. According to him, Berlin is also one of the initiators of the imposition of sanctions against Russia.

Former German Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised Kyiv to supply Iris-T air defense systems with a radar installation by the end of the year. In mid-April, Russia sent a note to NATO countries over arms supplies to Ukraine and demanded that they be stopped. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo that contains weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia.
