The ruined “shoe king” Gridin is forced to live on a schooner near Klyazma

This lone captain has been looking for the most reliable berth of his life for decades. Wives changed each other, business flourished, luck smiled in all 32 teeth, but by the middle of his life it suddenly turned out that a businessman who remains a filibuster in his soul has only one reliable support in life – this is his frigate. This is how a one-of-a-kind houseboat worth 142 million rubles appeared in the Moscow region, in which one very lonely and free soul lives.
The wind no longer blows the sails of his hope. Love boat, crashed on life, laid up. Igor Gridin, aka the “pirate of the Klyazma reservoir”, faced betrayal three times. His ship very cleverly bypassed the dangerous backwaters of business competitors, but leaked every time problems began in the family. And so, in order not to finally run aground, a man with a Nordic character decided to part with his life on land, mooring to a new shore.
So a few years ago, near Mytishchi in the village of Novoaleksandrovo, a snow-white frigate “Viscount”, similar to a double-deck pirate schooner, moored to the shore of the Klyazma reservoir. Yes, it stayed there forever. Meeting us with a sad smile, the owner of the dwelling jokes that life has pretty battered him and the frigate.
“I was born in Gorlovka, in a mining family,” he says. – At first I tried to continue the family business, and then I decided to choose my own path. It was the end of the 90s, a difficult time. The elite of the Donetsk working class, who wielded a jackhammer in the coal faces, stopped paying salaries.
So the “15-year-old captain” went on a free voyage. A few years later he organized a cooperative for the production of shoes. Survived several raider attacks. He dealt with hardened bandits, who forced him to pay them regular tribute, arranging for him a demonstrative trip to the winter river (there the businessman was offered a choice: either head into the hole, or let’s fork out; Igor chose life). So in a tough competition and under the pressure of “business people from the big road” his character was tempered. Thus he achieved real prosperity. Things were going uphill, big money appeared, but on the personal front everything went downhill.
The first wife filed for divorce when her job stole her husband from her. Gridin disappeared for days at the factory. This did not suit the woman. Therefore, a separation happened, and their common son remained with his mother. The second time the businessman got married pretty quickly. Love at first sight. But there was a lack of common goals. The woman already had a child from her first marriage, she did not want to share.
By that time, Igor managed to establish a successful shoe brand in Moscow. Opened several shops and restaurants. Engaged in the oil business. And to achieve mutual understanding in the family did not work. Divorce again, already on his initiative. For three years, the couple shared their jointly acquired property. And then the man met a beautiful stranger, more than 20 years younger than him. She twice fulfilled the desire of her beloved man – she gave him both a son and a daughter. However, the eternal employment of the spouse alienated them, and the third divorce took place in Igor’s life.
After that, a black stripe began. Business was going through hard times, a significant part of the property went to the wives. One day, not the most beautiful day, the man realized that he simply had nowhere to live. And here his personal ship, which he once prepared as a gift to his eldest son, came in very handy.
But let’s go in order. Inspired by stories about pirates and not devoid of engineering thinking, one day Igor decided to build a ship according to his own sketch and present it to his first heir. In 2008, he bought an icebreaker ferry in Uglich for $500,000 and “reshaped” it.
— I drew the sketch at night. And then he gave it to the bureau of ship engineers, – says the man. – They built a frigate in Yaroslavl. Right from there to Moscow, I sailed on it. He decided to call the schooner “Viscount”, and the name is not accidental, since the viscount is the son of a count. I found out about our count’s roots when I found documents in my grandmother’s chest, indicating that we all came from the dynasty of the Gridin counts.
For better or worse, the gift from the father to the son did not suit the court. By that time, the young man managed to get married and move to his wife’s homeland in Chelyabinsk, where there is no shipping. There was a gift with Igor. Some time ago, when he had nowhere to live, he made the schooner his permanent home.
– Do passers-by ask you to board the ship? I ask.
They constantly ask to be photographed. The ship looks like a pirate ship! says the owner.
The engine is preserved. Putting this colossus on the course is too costly an event. Therefore, it is used exclusively as a dwelling. But in addition to the pirate father, there is also a cabin boy on this ship who is not averse to pulling up the cables and scrubbing the deck. Of course, in their free time from school, that is, on vacation. Gridin’s 13-year-old youngest son knows the ship like the back of his hand. The daughter of a former businessman also visits here in the summer. Now it is with her that the main dream of a loving father is connected. The girl goes to college to become a doctor. If she succeeds, spring will bloom again in the soul of the old pirate.
In the meantime, the wind in your hair, chamomile tea instead of rum and TV instead of the screams of hungry seagulls. Life goes on. By screws!
