In two years, the revenue of the creative industries in Moscow increased by 1.2 times: if in 2020 it amounted to 3.2 trillion rubles, then in 2022 it reached almost 4 trillion rubles. This was announced by the head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of the city Alexei Fursin.

“In 2020, the total income of creative industries amounted to 3.2 trillion rubles. Now – about 4 trillion rubles. Of these, 1.7 trillion [руб.] brings information technology and video games, 953 [млн руб.] – advertising business, 343 [млн руб.] – television and radio broadcasting, 273 [млн руб.] – architecture and 252 [млн руб.] – publishing activities,” the press service quoted him as saying.

The department noted that more than 100,000 representatives of the creative business work in Moscow, which is a quarter of the total number of entrepreneurs in the industry. We are talking about the industrial design of import-substituting products, the modeling and production of clothing, the development of software and video games, the printing of books, the creation of films, music, works of architecture, etc.

Since 2020, a system of measures to support the creative industries has been in place in Moscow. In particular, artists have the opportunity to present their works under the created in Moscow brand at the city’s main art events – the Art Moscow and Blazar contemporary art fairs. Clothing designers can sell their products at the Telegraph department store, which has been operating in the Afimall City shopping center since 2022. It is noted that since August 2022, the turnover of the section has amounted to more than 22 million rubles, and the total turnover of the department store is about 88 million rubles.

Support measures are also provided for representatives of the design, animation, book publishing, music and performing arts industries.

Earlier today, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the exhibition “Development of the Creative Economy in Russia” in the metropolitan constructive space “Zotov”. The head of state examined the stands on architecture and urbanism, fashion and culture, design and tourism, and also discussed the situation in the industry. In particular, Putin promised additional support for Russian animation, noting that it is “the foundation of education and upbringing.”
