The results of remote electronic voting (DEV) for the upcoming autumn elections in 2023 will be made public a few hours after the end of voting in each region. This was reported to Vedomosti by the chairman of the TEC DEG Oleg Artamonov. This year, the CEC introduced targeted changes to the procedure for conducting voting in elections: now it will not be necessary to wait for its completion in all constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the results of the DEG will be available after the completion of elections in a particular region. The new strategy will be tested by 25 regions from five time zones. The organizers of the DEG say: there will be no need to wait for the completion of the elections in all regions, but the results will be available to the public for at least an hour after the completion of the voting.

“The point is not how long the system will take to calculate the results, the point is the implementation of those procedures that are provided for in the procedure,” explained Yury Satirov, Director for Digitalization of Electoral Processes at Rostelecom. According to him, additional time will be required to upload the voter lists and sign them, to assemble the decryption key, which will be attended by journalists and all holders of key parts. After that, the key will be loaded into the system. “For all this together, an hour is very optimistic, although the procedure for summing up the results in the system does not take more than 10 minutes,” Satirov told Vedomosti. Artamonov, in turn, guaranteed that the procedure would take “no more than two hours” in each time zone. “Two hours is the ceiling, we will try to fit within an hour,” he specified.
