The referendum in the LPR will be held this week

Dmitry Khoroshilov, First Deputy Head of the People’s Council of the Lugansk People’s Republic, said on Tuesday that a referendum on reunification with Russia would be held in the republic from 23 to 27 September.
The day before, the Public Chambers of the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics appealed to the leadership of the republics with a request to immediately hold referendums on joining Russia.
Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin said on Tuesday during a parliamentary meeting that if people in the Donbass speak out in a referendum that they want to be part of Russia, the State Duma will support them. Volodin stressed that the residents of Donbass “should understand this, that we expect them to freely express their will.”
Andrey Turchak, Secretary of the General Council of United Russia, said that an honest and open vote would de jure confirm once and for all that Donbass and other liberated territories are Russia.
