The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has secured the transfer to Israeli authorities of a total of 16 people who were captured by the Palestinian Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to a statement by the ICRC.
“16 people held hostage in Gaza have just been released with the assistance of the ICRC,” the report says. As noted, the former hostages were handed over to the Israeli security forces personally by ICRC employees.
On Monday, Hamas and Israel, with the mediation of Qatar and Egypt, extended the humanitarian truce for another two days. At the moment, the truce is in effect on November 30, and the possibility of its further extension is being studied.
