The reason for the removal from office of deputy Bezugla, who demanded Zaluzhny’s resignation, has been named

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine registered a draft resolution on the recall of MP from the Servant of the People Maryana Bezugloa from the post of deputy chairman of the Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence. “MK” decided to remind what the people’s deputy became famous for and what her resignation was connected with.

The document proposes to recall Bezuglaya “due to circumstances that make it impossible for her to fulfill her duties,” the deputy head of the parliamentary committee.

The initiator of Bezugla’s removal from office was the chairman of the committee, and 11 of his colleagues supported this idea. Earlier, the Ukrainian portal NV reported that the recall of Maryana Bezugla from her post was initiated by the people’s deputy from European Solidarity Irina Friz. This happened after the committee had been discussing for a long time that “someone is cheating journalists, and we need to deal with it.” Irina denied this message and stated that she only demanded that the issue of Maryana’s removal be included in the agenda of the last committee meetings.

This resolution will be further considered by the Rules Committee. According to the People’s Deputy from “Voice” Yaroslav Zheleznyak, most likely they will decide “the hall to decide by voting.” Further, the resolution can be submitted on January 10-12 to a vote of the hall and, if there are 226+ votes, come into effect. At the same time, as Zheleznyak noted, Bezuglaya will in any case remain a member of the committee. “She also remains the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Democratic Civil Oversight and Control in accordance with this resolution,” the people’s deputy concluded.

The Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence recommended the removal of Bezuglaya from the post of deputy chairman on January 5. The people’s deputy said that “everything was done as insidiously as possible,” because, according to her, the head of the committee, Alexander Zavitnevich, allegedly put the decision to a vote after she warned him that she would be late for the meeting, that is, it was held in her absence.

Both experts and the public agree on one thing: most likely, Bezuglaya’s resignation is associated with numerous scandals caused by her statements. The main one, of course, is the conflict between her and Zaluzhny. On November 26, Bezuglaya said that Ukraine’s military command “must go” because it had not provided “any action plan for 2024.” After this statement, Maryana Bezuglaya published other messages criticizing Valery Zaluzhny.

For example, her indignation was caused by the words of Zaluzhny, who criticized Vladimir Zelensky’s decision to dismiss all regional military commissars.

Bezuglya was very surprised by the fact that Zaluzhny plans to get an academic degree. On her page on social networks, she noted that Zaluzhny’s dissertation and all scientific articles were written during the Northern Military District, which is why Bezuglaya had a logical question: “When did you have time?”

But most of all, the people’s deputy was concerned that the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine would defend his dissertation at the National University “Odessa Law Academy,” whose specialized academic council is headed by the well-known Sergei Kivalov. Bezuglaya calls him a “collaborator.” The reason for the accusations was the Pushkin Medal awarded to him for his contribution to the popularization of the Russian language and culture abroad and the Order of Friendship for the development and strengthening of friendship and cooperation between Russia and Ukraine.

Zaluzhny eventually defended his dissertation, and Maryana also did not ignore this. “Meanwhile, there was time to defend my dissertation,” the people’s deputy commented.

In general, Bezuglaya carefully monitors every word and action of Zaluzhny in order to subsequently discuss it in her Telegram channel. The people’s deputy’s close attention to the commander-in-chief began to raise questions among the public, and therefore this issue was raised even at Zelensky’s press conference.

“I’m not doing this, I don’t have time for these fruitless dialogues,” the president said regarding the conflict between Bezuglaya and Zaluzhny. Maryana, apparently, has plenty of free time. And in the event of resignation, it will become even more, and then it even becomes scary what other crazy idea might come into her head.

Bezuglaya was repeatedly noted for making scandalous statements regarding mobilization. For example, she offered Ukrainians a survey on whether they support the idea that mobilization reservations could be purchased. That is, a person liable for military service pays a certain amount, supposedly “for the combatant,” and does not worry about his own conscription. “For example, 200 thousand hryvnia per month. This may also apply to private businesses and companies in relation to their employees,” Bezuglaya clarified.

Maryana actively promotes the idea of mobilizing women. “Some cannot leave the country and are subject to mobilization, while others are looking for a love interest in Europe. Equal rights!” – the people’s deputy wrote. True, Bezuglaya did not have an answer to the question in the comments “when will the sons of deputies be mobilized.”

The bill introduced to the Verkhovna Rada in the spring of 2022 caused a great resonance in society. Maryana Bezuglaya, together with her colleagues, submitted an initiative to the Rada allowing commanders to kill subordinates for not following orders or leaving positions. As a result, the bill was withdrawn.

However, Bezuglaya gained some fame even before the Northern Military District. In 2021, during a live broadcast, Maryana was unable to answer a simple question for the deputy head of the Rada Defense Committee – how many countries are members of NATO. “Look, I’m actually on the air right away, in our conversation, I ask you not to ask specific questions,” Bezuglaya answered.

In general, Maryana is a standard example of a Ukrainian official. It can be said to have become a symbol of their isolation from the people, stupidity and attempts to hide their absolute uselessness for Ukrainians behind scandalous statements. Will Bezuglaya’s resignation make other officials think again? This is a rhetorical question, to which the history of modern Ukraine has already given its answer many times.
