Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Gorbenko said in an interview with the Ukrainian publication Telegraph that the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky proposed to President Vladimir Zelensky to double payments for military personnel on the front line in order to increase their motivation.
According to Gorbenko, it is proposed to set payments not at 100 thousand hryvnia (2.6 thousand dollars), but at 200 thousand hryvnia (5.2 thousand dollars).
“Can this be done? Yes, it can be done!” said the deputy, adding that Syrsky suggested Zelensky do this “to motivate the guys.”
Gorbenko said that the military at the front, when he arrived there, turned to him with a request to raise “combat” payments. The deputy believes that money can be found if those who do not want to serve, that is, the so-called refuseniks, are dismissed from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
