Qatar predicts a global gas shortage in 2025-2030. This was stated by the Minister of Energy of Qatar, head of QatarEnergy Saad bin Sharida al-Kaabi during the Indian Energy Week energy conference in Goa.
“Gas will be the most needed resource. And we see that from 2025 to 2030 there will be a gas shortage in the world,” said the Qatari minister (quoted by TASS). According to him, the refusal of Russian gas in Europe had a negative impact on the world market.
In addition, the market is negatively affected by sharp jumps in gas prices, both upward and downward, which are observed due to the redirection of supplies. The minister spoke in favor of sufficient investment in the gas industry.
According to him, renewable energy sources can be used to produce electricity, but “you can’t make plastic out of the sun,” which is necessary, among other things, to create electric cars. According to OPEC+, Qatar is among the top five countries in gas production. Qatar left OPEC+ in 2018.
