Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, during an open dialogue in the Federation Council, said that energy supplies to friendly countries increased from 40% in 2021 to 85% in 2023. According to him, it is impossible to increase the share of supplies above 85%. The broadcast of the meeting was published on the TV channel “Together.RF”.

“In 2021… exports were approximately the same as now, of which about 60% were supplied to the western direction, 40% to the eastern direction… Under current conditions, we are left with 15% of the western direction and 85% of the eastern direction. In principle, the situation has stabilized; last year it was a little less, but now it has stabilized. It is impossible to deliver more in the western direction under the current conditions,” Mr. Novak said at the meeting.

Alexander Novak also reportedthat Russian oil exports in 2023 decreased by 3.3% to 234.3 million tons (in 2022 – 242.2 million tons). According to him, oil and gas condensate production last year amounted to 530.6 million tons – 0.9% less than in 2022.

At the end of November, OPEC+ countries agreed to voluntarily reduce oil production by 2.2 million barrels per day (b/d) from the beginning of 2024. Russia has announced its intention to reduce export volumes to 500 thousand b/d (300 thousand b/d of oil and 200 thousand b/d of petroleum products) by the end of the first quarter of 2024.
