Eksmo complained to the FAS because of plagiarism of the Primer by speech therapist Nadezhda Zhukova. The publishing house appealed to the FAS because of the similar design of the primer of the author with the same name, reports RBC.
According to Eksmo, Simbat LLC has been plagiarizing the primer and the entire series “Speech therapist Nadezhda Zhukova” since 2017. The company publishes the book “ABC and Primer” with a similar design under the authorship of the namesake – Maria Alexandrovna Zhukova. Eksmo believes that the same surnames and similar design lead to their “mixing” in the eyes of the consumer. The publishing house conducted a survey in which 1.5 thousand adult respondents took part. In it, 77% of respondents noted the general similarity of the two books, and 58% believe that the books “ABC and Primer” and “Primer” belong to the same series.
On September 1, the publishing house filed a complaint about unfair competition with the FAS with a request to initiate a case. “Eksmo” asks to issue the company “Simbat” LLC “an order to eliminate the consequences of the violation and prevent actions that create a threat of violation of antimonopoly legislation.”
