According to the Public Headquarters for Monitoring Elections in Moscow, after processing 75.3% of the protocols, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin received almost 2.4 million votes. According to the headquarters, out of 1,658 protocols processed, Sobyanin received 2,368,486 votes, including 2,053,954 electronic ballots and 314,532 paper votes.
Chairman of the Moscow City Election Commission Olga Kirillova noted that a record number of voters took part in these elections in Moscow – more than 3.285 million people.
Sergei Sobyanin expressed gratitude to the residents of Moscow for their activity and support.
Elections in 85 Russian regions, including Moscow, were held as part of a single voting day from September 8 to 10. A mayor was elected in Moscow.
Sobyanin became mayor of Moscow in 2010 by decision of the Moscow City Duma, then was elected to this position in September 2013 and re-elected in 2018. In the 2023 elections, his competitors were Dmitry Gusev from the A Just Russia – For Truth party, Vladislav Davankov from the New People party, Leonid Zyuganov (grandson of the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation) and Boris Chernyshov from the Liberal Democratic Party.
