The Prosecutor General’s Office was asked to check Meladze for financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Vitaly Borodin, head of the Federal Security and Anti-Corruption Project, asked the Prosecutor General’s Office to check the singer Valery Meladze for financing the Ukrainian armed forces. About it informs RT with a link to the document.

The appeal says that the Federal Project for Security and the Fight against Corruption has been following the activities and statements of Meladze for a long time. According to Borodin, the singer has repeatedly “criticized the decisions taken by state bodies and the President of Russia” regarding the special operation.

Borodin added that now Meladze’s touring activities within Russia are limited, but he freely gives concerts abroad. “Many citizens have a question whether the money they earn at corporate parties in Moscow and Dubai is going to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the appeal says.

In early January, a video appeared on the network in which Meladze, while at a concert in Dubai, allegedly says “glory to the heroes”, responding to the Ukrainian nationalist chants of one of the fans. After that, the State Duma and the Federation Council urged to take action against the singer. After that, the first deputy head of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption Andrei Lugovoi said that he had turned to Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov with a request to give a legal assessment of Meladze’s actions.
