The Prosecutor General’s Office sent to court the case of undermining the railway in the Bryansk region

The Prosecutor General’s Office approved the indictment in the criminal case of undermining railways in the Bryansk region. About it reported in the department.

The criminal case will be sent to the second Western district military court.

Sergei Belavin is accused of undermining the railway. He is charged with s. “a”, “c” part 2 of Art. 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist act), art. 205.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (training for terrorist activities), part 4 of Art. 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal acquisition and storage of explosives and explosive devices by an organized group), as well as Part 3 of Art. 223.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal manufacture of explosive devices by an organized group). Belavin is under arrest.

According to the investigation, on July 9, 2022, he planted a high-explosive explosive device with radio control between the sleepers at the 153 km stage of the Peschaniki-Robchik station in the Unechsky district. Prior to that, his accomplices had placed in a cache in the forest of the Bryansk region a hexogen-containing explosive weighing at least 900 grams of TNT, mines, fuses and other components. When the train approached, Belavin blew up, as a result of which the freight train and a section of the track were damaged. In addition, there was no transport communication on this section for more than 10 hours.

“Its goals were to destabilize the activities of state authorities of the Russian Federation, to influence their decision to stop conducting a special military operation by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation,” the department noted.

The prosecutor’s office claims that back in February 2019, for a monetary reward, the accused was involved in a group organized by the intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, which planned terrorist attacks in Russia. Then, from April 2020 to December 2021, in the Kyiv region, he underwent physical and psychological training and acquired skills in handling explosives.

July 9, 2022 Governor of the Bryansk region Alexander Bogomaz reported that an explosive device went off on the railway tracks in front of the freight train. The explosion damaged the windows of the driver’s cab, no one was injured.
