The Prosecutor General’s Office of Germany accused the businessman of supplying spare parts for drones to Russia

The German Prosecutor General’s Office accused a German and Russian citizen, Waldemar V., of “repeatedly violating the law on foreign trade and payments on a commercial basis.” This was reported on site departments.

Waldemar W. is the managing director of two companies he founded in the Saarland for the international trade of electronic components, according to the German Attorney General’s Office. From January 2020 to March 2023, he exported 26 electronic components to a company in Russia that produces military equipment and accessories.

“These include the Orlan-10 drone, which is currently used by the Russian armed forces in Ukraine,” the ministry said. It clarifies that the components supplied by it are a common part of this type of drone and are subject to the EU embargo regulation against Russia.

The agency notes that in order to circumvent EU sanctions, Waldemar W. imported goods from abroad to Germany and then exported them to Russia – in some cases through a company in Baden-Württemberg, which he controlled. Initially, according to the German Prosecutor General’s Office, the export was carried out to two civilian fictitious companies based in Russia. The total value of illegally manufactured components is around €715,000.

“The arrest warrant of the investigating judge of the Federal Court of Justice replaces the arrest warrant of the District Court of Mannheim of 8 March 2023, on the basis of which the accused had been in custody since 9 March 2023. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office began to examine the case on 20 March 2023 due to the particular importance of the case “. – the message says.

According to the German Prosecutor General’s Office, the man has repeatedly, since May of this year, offered cooperation to Russian diplomats in Bonn and Berlin, and also passed on some information to the Russian side. As specified, he worked in the department responsible for procurement for the German Armed Forces.

Earlier on June 23, the European Union officially introduced the 11th package of sanctions against Russia. Ivan Timofeev, director general of the Russian International Affairs Council, told Vedomosti that the package itself can hardly be called a shock for Russia, although it does harm the country. “As for oil, here the restrictions are damaging not only to Russia, which already considers the European market lost, but also to the EU itself. Brussels will have to compensate for the damage to those countries that have achieved exceptions for the purchase of Russian energy carriers,” Timofeev noted.

In response to the 11th package of EU sanctions, Russia expanded a list of representatives of European institutions and countries – members of the Union, who are prohibited from entering the country, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported. Representatives of law enforcement, state and commercial organizations of the EU, which participate in military assistance to Ukraine and raise funds for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, were banned from entering Russia. Restrictive measures have also been introduced against European officials who are responsible for sanctions against Russia, and EU parliamentarians who “advance a confrontational agenda.”
